Coding Lab for Kids: Sphero Robot Obstacle Challenge

December 21, 2019 • 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Help a Sphero robot navigate obstacles using code in the Sphero Edu app on iPad. Kids will explore block-based coding by programming simple movements, changing colours and more. They’ll set up obstacles and use iPad to program a path for their robot to navigate. Bring your own devices, or we’ll provide them. Recommended for ages 6–12.

Coding Skills: Getting Started with Swift Playgrounds

Swift is a powerful programming language created by Apple that’s used to build many popular apps. And Swift Playgrounds is an app for iPad that makes learning how to code interactive and fun. In this 60-minute session we’ll show you how to get started with coding using the Swift Playgrounds app. Bring your iPad or we’ll provide one. Recommended for beginner coders ages 12 and up.

What happens when a lemon and a traffic cone collide? Using artist Sarah Rothberg’s creative approach and art, you’ll learn how to code an augmented reality experience. Whether it’s happy, wacky or weird, you’ll combine AR elements in Swift Playgrounds on iPad. Our Apple Creatives will take you through creative and coding exercises. Recommended for beginners ages 12 and up. Devices will be provided.

App Skills: Making an App Prototype with Keynote

February 8, 2020 • 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Bring an app idea to life using Keynote for iPad. You’ll sketch an app interface and use shapes, text, and linked slides to show how the app functions. By the end of the session, you’ll have a working app prototype. Bring your iPad or we’ll provide one. Recommended for beginners interested in app development.
